It took being air-lifted from a horrendous accident for Irene Byers to transfer her head knowledge of God's comforting grace into heart knowledge. Her constant question of why this happened was answered in His Word – so that she can comfort others with the comfort granted to her from God.

Irene has been a featured speaker at church events and special interest groups. She incorporates humor and pertinent scriptures as she recounts the story of her near-fatal accident. She also shares the unusual circumstances leading to the adoption of their four post-infant children and the pain suffered in the tragic death of their oldest child.

Growing up as a preacher's kid, Irene jumped into leadership at age nine when she taught her first Vacation Bible School class. She earned two bachelor's degrees, teaching elementary and high school for eight years. She then worked with her husband in his printing/publishing business for 24 years. Her writings have appeared in college newspapers, Christian publications, and in UltraFlight Magazine. She is active locally with Calvary Chapel, Suncoast Christian Writers Group, and Women of Wisdom Investment Club.

Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Irene married Jim Byers of New Paris, Indiana in 1974. Eight years later, they adopted their four children, siblings whose mother died of cancer. Now she dotes on her four grandsons, who live in Ohio and Washington state. The Byers reside in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Irene has traveled throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, the Caribbean, Central America, Israel and Jordan. She enjoys reading and doing creative projects.
